What are the effects of the lining material on the foundry electric furnace

Furnace lining materials are not only a necessary material for the normal production of electric furnaces in the foundry industry. Furnace lining materials are divided into: acid lining materials, neutral lining materials and basic lining materials. The general foundry industry is high energy consumption, high pollution, In today's increasingly stringent environmental protection, it can be said that energy saving, environmental protection is the primary task, otherwise it will face the embarrassing situation of shutdown. The service life of the furnace lining material has a great influence on whether the normal production of the electric furnace can be guaranteed, and practice has proved that it is well mastered. The selection of materials, ingredients, knotting, baking and sintering process, and daily maintenance of the furnace lining during the use of electric furnace smelting are very important.

Today, the editor focuses on introducing the following functions of furnace lining materials:

(1) Good insulation function. The furnace lining shall not conduct electricity under high temperature conditions, otherwise leakage and short circuit will occur, resulting in safety and equipment accidents.

(2) The construction function of the material is good, the repairing and sintering function is good, and the furnace construction and repair are convenient.

(3) No harmful impurities such as iron oxide and low melting point minerals.

(4) High enough refractoriness. The working temperature of the induction furnace lining is generally lower than the temperature of the molten metal. However, considering the requirements for the life of the furnace lining, the occasional or frequent over-temperature of the molten pool and the molten ditch must also be considered. Good fluidity, it is often unsafe to use materials with low refractoriness and softening temperature in cast iron induction furnaces. As a refractory material for electric furnaces producing cast iron products, the refractoriness should reach 1650-1700 degrees Celsius, and the softening temperature should be higher than 1700 degrees Celsius.

(5) The thermal expansion coefficient is small, and the volume should be relatively stable with the change of temperature, without severe expansion and shortening.

(6) Good chemical stability. The chemical stability of the material is closely related to the life of the furnace lining. The furnace lining material should not be hydrolyzed and decomposed at low temperature, and should not be easily decomposed and restored at high temperature. It is a substance that constitutes a low melting point. It is not easy to chemically react with metal solutions, solvents and slag.

(7) The acid furnace lining has high mechanical function. It can withstand the impact of the charge when the temperature in the furnace is low. When the metal is in a high temperature melting state, it should be able to accept the static pressure of the molten metal and the strong electromagnetic stirring effect. Wear and corrosion resistance under the long-term scouring effect of liquid.
